Been awake dusk til dawn.
Sleep eludes me.
It’s not only my homework that’s on due,
My rent could also say its true.
Can’t comprehend; ideas won’t come at me.
Really. Can’t think straight on an empty tummy.
Hustling everyday,
Yet can’t escape this hassle.
I often hear how happiness finds you on its own way; but
They forgot to mention
How sadness befriends you first.
It’s way past midnight
Today’s Friday
Answered prayers, someone sent me money.
T’was my mom.
I forgot today was her birthday,
Guess I’ll hear those lines again
Tears were about to fall,
As light gaze upon my eyes,
The sun is rising,
A reminder to keep working hard.
I whispered to myself,
I’ll persevere,
because it’s not only me that endures.
I’ll work hard,
because I got a dream
To someday see my mom,
Blow out candles on top of a cake,
Not to blow out candles to turn off the lights.
