โ€œView niyo my day koโ€

Curiosity piqued, you quickly tapped on the account of the person who posted such and followed their simple instruction. To your utter shock, it was an image that made you wish you never checked the content of their My Day in the first place. You may regret it, but itโ€™s too late. Whatever photo they posted on their My Day is now stuck on your mind whether you like it or not.

The above scenario is a common occurrence among Facebook users. It occurs when either a complete stranger or someone you know publicly posts โ€œCheck niyo My Day koโ€, invoking the curiosity of other netizens. Upon checking out their “My Day”, they discover disturbing images. The viewers of those My Days will oftentimes share the original posterโ€™s โ€œCheck niyo My Day koโ€ post to their newsfeed to trick their other Facebook friends, and the cycle continues.

โ€œView niyo My Day koโ€ has been downplayed by netizens as a joke meant to invoke the priceless reactions of Facebook users. However, as fun as it is to do, it becomes morbid when minors are exposed to the content of those kinds of My Days. Contents featuring lewd images and violence should never make it to young audiencesโ€™ eyes. Furthermore, there are My Days that can be so graphic they should never be seen by anyone, regardless of oneโ€™s age. Some of them can be so shocking and disturbing that they can cause trauma to a person.ย

Even though strict community standards have been imposed on Facebook, there is no guarantee that people would not stumble upon those My Days. Therefore, we must avoid posting anything graphic or lewd then baiting people to view them. Netizens must also remain vigilant about these posts. If a โ€œCheck niyo My Day koโ€ post comes across your newsfeed, report it immediately. Never view them to satisfy your curiosity.

We must not post or share anything on our timeline that could disturb other Facebook users, especially minors. Moreover, let us educate others on the proper usage of social media, so they will not post anything inappropriate and avoid those types of posts. As respectable netizens, we have the responsibility of maintaining a safe virtual environment, we all have the duty to observe proper netiquette and we must take that seriously.ย
