Musuan, BukidnonโA crowning glory for Team Amihan after claiming the overall championship title of the recently concluded Physical Education (PE) day celebration of Central Mindanao University (CMU), spearheaded by CMU-Siglakas Club, with the theme, โTradisyon at Lakas: Recollecting the Past through Engaging with Activities fostering Physical Fitnessโ on November 13, 2024, at the University Complex.
The parade officially kicked off the event with five teams participatingโTeam Amihan, Team Alon, Team Bathala, Team Pintados, and Team Lakanโcarrying their respective team banners and presenting their prepared chants proudly.
Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, President of CMU, also graced the event with his presence, leaving a message emphasizing the critical role that physical activity and wellness play in our lives.
An as-intense-as-the-heat-of-the-scorching-sun ambiance filled the university complex as the competition proper began. The morning schedule featured five major events: Saludo and Sayawan ng Masa were held at the University Grandstand, Tagisan ng Talino took place at the Office of Student Affairs (OSAS) Hall, while Agawan ng Dambana and Yaman ng Pinas, along with five of the minor activitiesโBulan-bulan, Ambak Lupad, Tatak ng Kuponan, Pukol Bola, and Karera ng Sakoโwere conducted at the university grounds with respective stations.
The afternoon and evening events highlighted the most anticipated major activities, the prestigious Ginoong Lakas at Binibining Sigla 2024 and the Dancing Spoof Diva, both held at the University Grandstand. Despite the unexpected interruption of rain, the event still commenced as a night of showcasing symbols of grace, strength, and brilliance of the candidates.
The night ended with cheers of triumph as G. Sean Benedict Cabegin (Team Amihan) and Bb. Aishane Mae Nercua (Team Bathala) were formally crowned as the Ginoong Lakas and Binibining Sigla 2024. The first runners-up were G. Cyril Timtim (Team Alon) and Bb. Elcer Ann Ebarle (Team Amihan), followed by the second runners-up, G. Cisserge Van Caezar Lamban (Team Bathala) and Bb. Glaiza Marie Mirabueno (Team Lakan). The third runners-up were G. Nash Shamir Equipelag (Team Lakan) and Bb. Josephine Regalado (Team Pintados) and the fourth runners-up were G. Hyuan Sebastian Gabutan (Team Pintados) and Bb. Shyrie Pacot (Team Alon).
Following the coronation was the announcement of winners from the different major and minor activities of the day. In the Saludo competition, Team Pintados claimed first place, followed by Team Bathala in second place, Team Lakan in third place, Team Amihan in fourth place, and Team Alon in fifth place. For the Sayawan ng Masa, Team Lakan earned the first spot, with Team Amihan in the second spot, Team Alon in the third spot, and Team Pintados in the fourth spot, placing Team Bathala in fifth spot.
Team Pintados continued their second win as they bagged the first placement in the Tagisan ng Talino competition, with Team Alon finishing on the second place, Team Lakan in third place, Team Bathala in fourth Place, placing Team Amihan in fifth place.
Fuelled by grit, Team Amihan finally obtained its first win as it took the first spot in the Agawan ng Dambana competition, the second spot was given to Team Pintados, Team Alon in the third spot, placing Team Bathala and Team Lakan in the fourth and fifth spot respectively. The Yaman ng Pinas competition took an unexpected turn as all of the five teams, with their consistent efforts and teamwork, all conquered the first spot.
Gripping on the first spot as Team Alon secures its first win in the Bulan-bulan competition, with Team Amihan in the second spot, Team Lakan in the third spot, Team Pintados in the fourth spot, and Team Bathala in the fifth spot.
Another one for Team Amihan as they finished in first place in the Ambak Lupad competition, followed by Team Alon in second place, Team Pintados in third place, Team Lakan in fourth place, and Team Bathala in fifth place.
For the fourth time, Team Amihan successfully placed first spot for the Tatak ng Kuponan competition, followed by Team Pintados in the second spot, Team Bathala in the third spot, Team Alon in the fourth spot, and Team Lakan in the fifth spot. Team Bathala celebrated their first win in the Pukol Bola competition, placing Team Alon as the second placer, Team Amihan as the third placer, Team Lakan as the fourth placer, and Team Pintados as the fifth placer.
For the Karera ng Sako, the Team Lakanโs mightiness brought them in first place, Team Alon in second place, Team Amihan in third place, Team Pintados in fourth place, and Team Bathala in fifth place.
Team Pintados gained another win as they dominated the Dancing Spoof Diva stage finishing in first place, followed by Team Alon, Team Amihan in third place, Team Bathala in fourth place, and Team Lakan in fifth place.
Displaying unwavering determination, Team Amihan secured the first spot as the overall champion with a nail-biting win over their trailing rival, Team Pintados, who finished in second place. The Team Alonโs flowing unity placed them in third place, with Team Lakanโs mightiness bringing them to fourth place, placing the Team Bathala in fifth place.
The competing teams showed more than just the importance of victory, as they upheld the values of sportsmanship, unity, and camaraderie throughout the activity highlighting the relentless pursuit of excellence not just in the academic aspect, but also toward the holistic well-being aspect, truly embodying the heart of the event, the Latin phrase, โMens Sana en Corpore Sanoโโa healthy mind in a healthy body.
